Yosemite Rose - A Yosemite Hotel Bed & Breakfast
This late 1800's 'Italianate Revival' Victorian hotel bed and breakfast took 3 years to build and is a replica of a famous Bay Area mansion that is now a museum. The retreat is situated off the old stage coach run to Yosemite and is approximately 20 minutes from the park just off Highway 120, which is the most direct route from the Bay Area and San Francisco airport.
The retreat lies on 210 quiet acres bordering the Stanislaus National Forest. Surrounded by grand oaks, towering pines, fresh-water ponds, and a new and developing olive orchard, the facilities include: the manor house, a fully-equipped country cottage, horse stables, and an arena.
If you are inclined to walk the acreage, you may see a gray heron catching its morning meal at the pond or perhaps a herd of deer sleeping in the tall grass or possibly a bear lumbering in the distance. Off-road trails lead down the canyon to the Tuolumne and Clavey Rivers 2000 feet below, inviting hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
Local activities abound, from swimming, golfing, hiking, horse trail rides, river rafting, and mining for gold, or just plain relaxing. Spend evenings watching the meteors sweep across the night sky, or take an early morning hike to the knoll to watch the sunrise over the Yosemite and the High Sierra Mountains.
