Much of what we believe now about the world around us was influenced by the works of Jared Diamond (Guns, Germs & Steel), Joseph Campbell (Power of Myth), Daniel Quinn (Ishmael, Story of B, Beyond Civilization, et al) and above all else Life Experiences. We are no longer interested in salvationist or agriculture-based religions (ie paganism, buddhism, judaism, hinduism, islam, christianity, etc.) We do however believe ritual and tradition are important. We believe the two encourage group cohesion, help make our lives more real and allow us to slow down and focus. We do not believe humans are inherently flawed. We know that we are of the same material as the rest of the animals, vegetables, minerals, et al of the world. We eat from the dirt, have sex, are born, die and turn to dirt to feed the rest with our bodies. We are no longer interested in a diet that places us "above" the rest of the animals. We are animals. We do not believe it is immoral or unhealthy to eat other animals. We are omnivores. We are no longer interested in public institutions, wage slavery nor globalization. Our needs here in New Hampshire could never be fully understood and met by, for example, a governing body in California. We believe in taking care of our own. We believe our energies (work, moneys, charity, happiness, etc.) should primarily stay within the tribe. We are no longer interested in environmentalism. We believe there are just too many humans on the earth right now and no amount of control is going to fix our situation. What we envison is simply a committed extended family living together, adapting together and making a living together; Something our children will want to continue to nurture and pass on to their children; Cradle to grave security. This is what we call a tribe. If these ideas speak to you, please don't hesitate to contact us. Tell us about yourself... where you are in your life, what attracts you to us: tribeofdirt@gmail.com |
