Welcome to Drivers a la Cart, a website dedicated to the sport and fun of dog cart driving and offering top quality dog driving harnesses for sale. Many of us have medium to large, high energy dogs that just don't get enough exercise with a walk on a leash or a run in the backyard. Dog cart driving does three things very well:
    1. allows your dog to work at a steady trot with some weight resistance.

    2. enables your dog to engage in aerobic activity without fast stops and turns that helps to minimize exposure to injury.

    3. lets you go along for the ride and allows you to become involved in a "team" adventure with your dog, taking in the out-of-doors experience at a nice five to eight miles per hour.

I had a head start in this activity. I use to drive high spirited show horses in those little two wheeled "jogging carts." It was great fun. Now I am no longer around horses, but my dogs are just as much fun to drive! The well trained driving dog can handle just like a horse. I use a modified Halti (head collar) and attach reins to it. The reins run back through rein guides to the driver. The harness is my design and is very similar to a horse harness, using either the siwash style or the breastplate. I drive both a two wheeled sulky and a four wheel wagon. The following guidelines for cart training is my personal method that I use and not necessarily the only way to train for this activity. The following guidelines are only a suggestion for training the cart driving dog. I do not have anyone to help me train, I train alone.
