Rock Creek Hydroelectric Plant

Federal License Process

Unlike other renewable energy sources, hydroelectric plants require a license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) before they can connect to an interstate electrical grid.  Typically obtaining a license is a five year process.

Eastern Oregon Light & Power Co., LLC (EOL&P) filed our Preliminary Permit application with FERC on August 18, 2006.  FERC issued EOL&P their Preliminary Permit on April 16, 2007.  EOL&P filed our Notice of Intent (NOI) to file and our Preliminary Application Document (PAD) on April 17, 2007.

FERC issued their Scoping Document #1 on June 12, 2007, and FERC will hold a site visitation on July 11 at 9:00 am and two public meetings on July 12th (9:30 am and 7:00 pm)at the Haines Public Library.  For further details on any of these issues, contact EOL&P.

You can search for and view any of the official documents relating to EOL&P’s Rock Creek Hydroelectric Project by using the Docket Number “P-12726” on FERC’s ‘E-Library’ search page:
