About The District...

Crescent Rural Fire Protection District (RFPD) was founded in 1959 and staffed only with volunteers.  In 1985 the fire district saw the need for emergency medical care within the community and the fire district purchased its first ambulance.  Crescent RFPD has been providing emergency medical care ever since.  We now have five (5) full time career personnel: the Fire Chief/Paramedic, Training Officer/Paramedic, Firefighter/EMT-Intermediate, an EMT-Intermediate and an Office Assistant.  We also have over twenty (20) volunteers.  The mission and goals of the district are to provide excellent life and property safety.

Crescent RFPD currently serves over 200 families in our communities.  We also serve the people traveling through on the two major highways that pass through our district: Highway 97 and Highway 58.  Seasonal changes bring more people to our area.  Warmer spring and summer weather bring summer recreation enthusiasts to our local forests and lakes, while cooler fall and winter weather brings hunters and snow sport enthusiasts.

Our fire district boundaries include just over 20 square miles of rural north Klamath County including the communities of Crescent and Gilchrist.  Also there are several subdivisions in the northern portion of our district.  Crescent RFPD also has an ambulance service area of over 250 square miles including our fire district plus the community of Crescent Lake Junction and surrounding recreational areas of Crescent Lake, Odell Lake, and Davis Lake.  Our neighboring agencies are Central Cascades Fire & EMS, Chemult RFPD, Oregon Outback RFPD, and Lapine Fire District.
